Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in microbiology and biotechnology, Dr. Khademi has earned distinction as a principal investigator and leading scientist in his field. In this capacity, he is the owner, advisor, consultant, research and development director, manager, postdoctoral researcher and lead scientist for ACE Biotex, an advising organization, serving the R&D departments of biopharmaceutical industries as well as the biotechnology sector in the USA and Canada by troubleshooting their advanced research projects or designing their R&D or production line. Since 2016, he has focused his efforts on managing teams of researchers working on various projects and research for the company. Additionally, he has been a research grant proposal writer for 11 different organizations in the United States and Canada since 2014. He has also been an international postdoctoral researcher in pharmaceutical biotechnology for PurMabiologics since 2019.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Khademi began his career as the lead scientist for a semi-industrial scale research project in the sphere of microbial biotechnology at the Iran University of Science and Technology in 1998. He was then an invited research specialist in molecular genetics for cancer research for the University of Koln (Cologne), Medical School in Germany in 2001 until 2002. As a research associate and molecular biologist, he joined the research team of University of Guelph in Canada in 2003. Following this time, he served as a principal scientist for the department of biotechnology for the QAUB Research Center in Iran from 2008 to 2013. Additionally, he served as the founder, chief executive officer and director for pharmaceutical regulatory affairs and marketing for Pharmacosmetic International (PCI) Trade, based in Toronto, Canada from 2008 to 2012. With a special commitment and dedication, he started his first postdoctoral research project for Tehran Azad University's science and research branch, in Iran, in 2013. Following his postdoctoral research, he joined the bio-engineering research team of Dalhousie University in Canada in 2014 until 2018. He was also a team leader and COVID-19 medical specialist for the Institute for Advanced Biomedical Research (IABR) in USA, fighting the Covid pandemic, in 2021. As a remote or on-site biotechnological advisor and research project manager, working for ACE Biotex Co, he helped troubleshooting of stopped research projects and also the improvement of the R&Ds of several US and Canadian biotechnological or biopharmaceutical organizations, including one of the biggest US CDMOs, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceutical company (Biovectra branch) and Purmabiologics Co in the USA, since 2016 until 2022.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Khademi has contributed a wealth of research to the field, including "Genomic organization and expression profile of the small GTPases of the RhoBTB family in human and mouse" in the journal Gene in 2022 and "Microbial Technologies for the Isolation and Phylogenetic Analysis of Marine and Terrestrial Bacteria with Antifungal or Antibacterial Activities" in 2012. He also wrote for the IOSR Journal of Dental and Medical Sciences, the European Journal of Experimental Biology and the IOSR Journal of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, among other publications. He more recently authored "What A Waste; The Necessity of the Integration of Waste-to-Energy Strategies in Waste Management Systems, and the Importance of Techno-Economic and Environmental Analysis of the Related Technologies" for the Atlantic Biorefinery Conference in 2017.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Khademi earned a Bachelor of Science in medical microbiology and bacteriology from Azad University in Iran in 1995. He then attained a Master of Science in microbial biotechnology and enzyme technology in 1998 and a Doctor of Philosophy in microbial biotechnology and biopharmaceutics in 2012, both from the same institution. He subsequently completed postdoctoral training in microbial biotechnology and bioenergy at Dalhousie University in 2015, serving as a post-doctoral researcher for the biggest pharmaceutical industry, Darou-Pakhsh, in Iran in 2012 and for Acadia University in 2019.
Well-qualified in his field, Dr. Khademi holds a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) postgraduate diploma from a Canadian branch of Kriger Research Institute, a US Clinical Research Organization (CRO), in 2007. He also gained a Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs (PRA) postgraduate diploma from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists in 2008 and a diploma in international trade from Seneca College the same year. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud to have received a research award from KOLCH research funding organization in Germany and a MEXT research grant from the Japanese government. He also received one award from North American SWANA for his winning research proposal, proposing a biotechnological solution for land and water pollution. In addition, he received a MITACs research grant for his project voluntarily designed for a UN member providing technical assistance in science and technology to Nepal after its Nepal earthquake. Furthermore, he received an exceptional 3-year global research grants from MITACs in Canada, running a research project in collaboration with Purmabiologics Co, a US biotech industry.
Within the coming years, Dr. Khademi intends to be further recognized as one of the top scientists in the world while contributing to the solutions for cancer with herbal medicine.
