PALM SPRINGS, CA, January 26, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard S. Sargent has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Having accrued more than two decades of experience in the performing arts field, Mr. Sargent has earned distinction through his work with the Black Ice Theatre Company (BITC), an organization of theatre professionals based in South Lake Tahoe, California. When Mr. Sargent initially moved to Tahoe in 2018, the theatre scene was languishing in obscurity. Through the efforts of both he and his fellow playwrights, actors and directors, however, the BITC has established itself as a force for change and a lens through which relevant and thought-provoking comedies, dramas and nonfictional adaptations can shine before local audiences. Before settling into his current role as a Board Member, Mr. Sargent previously served as the Artistic Director for BITC between 2018 and 2022.
Prior to his work in South Lake Tahoe, Mr. Sargent hailed from a multifaceted journey as an actor, editor, writer, director, producer, filmmaker and music producer, which began at Gannon University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Communications in 2005. Following this accomplishment, he worked in theatrical and on-camera productions in New York for several years, after which he moved to San Francisco, where he became involved with the Left Coast Theatre Co. as Artistic Director, actor, writer and director. During this time, Mr. Sargent found that theatre companies on the West Coast largely shared his values and yearned to tell similar stories. The collaborative process helped immeasurably to improve his capacity for writing provocative and original works and to make a difference in the communities in which they played.
Adjacent to his primary endeavors in the field, Mr. Sargent is an aficionado of horror movies, having directed a short film, "Meat" for the "World of Death" horror anthology streamed by Bloody Disgusting. As another expression of his love for the macabre, he wrote the "Horror Movie Night Cookbook Volume 1," a collection of delicious recipes, cocktails and drinking games that are ideal for a ghastly night of movie watching with friends. Mr. Sargent is also a member of a band he formed alongside his husband, The Green Winter, whose music is available on Apple Music and Amazon.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Sargent hopes to continue exploring creative opportunities in theatre, film and television. He will also be dedicating his time to creating new music with his band, writing scripts for film and theatre, and continuing his "Horror Movie Night Cookbook" series.
