He lectures on key business topics, ensuring that, as future leaders, students are equipped for today's business environment. Conestoga College is a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), and this guides his work as a professor. One of the key topics of interest to Mr. Quartermain is business and sustainability. He has worked with a team to implement Canada's first Carbon Literacy-approved training program. Mr. Quartermain's previous education experience included Seneca College and Humber College teaching business classes as part of continuing education certification programs for Certified Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).

Before joining Conestoga College, his most recent role was vice president of indirect procurement at Sobeys in Mississauga, Ontario, a $24.6 billion Canadian grocery retail chain from 1998 to 2018. Mr. Quartermain was promoted to his position after serving in progressively senior roles over his 38-year career with the company.
Adding to his expertise, Mr. Quarterman has been published professionally on supply chains and other relative topics. He has also spoken publicly at professional conferences, namely the Ontario Institute of Purchasing Management Conference, Canadian Stewardship Conference, and the Wilfrid Laurier University Supply Chain Management Speaker Series.
Locally, Mr. Quartermain served on the board of the Ontario Institute, Supply Chain Canada, from 2016 to 2020, was a community member of Mackenzie Health between 2011 and 2014 and was a circle facilitator for Peacebuilders Canada from 2008 to 2012.
Highly educated, Mr. Quartermain received a Bachelor of Commerce degree at York University in 2005. He subsequently earned a Masters of Law specializing in alternative dispute resolution at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 2010 and a Masters of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Waterloo in 2017. Furthermore, Mr. Quartermain has several professional certifications in supply chain (CSCMP), project management (CAPM), management and administration (CMgr), and dispute resolution (QMed.) He is also a lean six sigma greenbelt and certified Carbon Literacy Standard. He is a member of the Supply Chain Management Association of Ontario, the Project Management Institute, the Canadian Institute of Management, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario. Additionally, he has completed numerous professional development courses to remain abreast in his field.
