Holding master-level certification in her profession through the Spinal Reflex Institute of Durango, Colorado, she bears a diverse array of specializations, including in craniosacral therapy, sports massage, hot-stone massage and pregnancy massage, as well as orthopedic massage and active, passive and facilitated stretching. Having embarked upon her career as a massage therapist at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, she went on to practice in the vicinity of Denver and Boulder for more than 30 years, during which time she served in a managerial role at the Flatiron Athletic Club.
Having incorporated spinal reflex therapy into her repertoire since 2005, Ms. Moon has proceeded to distinguish herself as a core distributor and instructor via the Spinal Reflex Therapy International Company Organization, and as an assistant teacher in the states of Colorado, Tennessee, Iowa and Ohio. She has also parlayed her knowledge on behalf of students at Touch For Health Kinesiology in both the United States and abroad in the Netherlands between 1982 and 2010.
To remain aware of developments in the field, Ms. Moon has also maintained her affiliation with a number of relevant organizations, including the International Touch For Health Kinesiology Association since 1982 and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork since 1999. Furthermore, Ms. Moon has aligned herself with the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) since 1985, having served as the president of the organization, as a member of the national board for 15 years, and as the director of education for the Colorado chapter, among other roles.
Outside of her primary vocational efforts, Ms. Moon is an avid jazz and blues singer, as well as a percussionist and classical guitarist. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, she has volunteered for various roles at the Massage Therapy Foundation, and has contributed hours of service to a number of worthy fundraisers. In honor of her manifold accomplishments and exemplary talent, Ms. Moon has been the recipient of several accolades, including the National President's Award from AMTA in 2010, the Sports Massage Achiever Award from AMTA's Colorado Chapter Sports Massage Team in 2006, a Distinguished Service Award for her work as the director of education at the AMTA Colorado Chapter in 1990 and two Meritorious Awards from AMTA in 2008 and 1991.
While hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Moon credits much of her success to her dedication to continuing education – to wit, her membership with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork requires over 30 hours of lessons every two years, and she has studied at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Conservatory of Music and the Massage School of YMCA.
