Based on years of professional experience, Mr. Hayes excelled as a school board member with the Chattooga County School Board of Education. Similarly, he is an elder, minister, and teacher at the Pennville Church of Christ. Since beginning his educational career, he has taught American Government and History in high school, special education in middle school, administration in all three levels: elementary, middle, and high schools. Currently, Mr. Hayes works as a school administrator for Westside Middle School in Whitfield County, Georgia.
During the early years of his career, Mr. Hayes gained valuable expertise in education and ministry with Mount Vernon Mills, as the Sports Editor for The Trion Facts, a local weekly newspaper. He has served the community while working at Lookout Hall Church of Christ, Lookout Mountain Community Services, Chattooga County Water Board Authority, Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, and Walker County Schools, Floyd County Schools, Gordon County Schools, and Dade County Schools. Outside of his work, he has donated to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Association, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, and Alzheimer's Association. Likewise, Mr. Hayes has been affiliated with the Chattooga County Historical Society, Chattooga County Republican Party, Walker County Chamber of Commerce, Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce, and sales manager for H&R Sanitation, Inc.
An expert in his field, Mr. Hayes holds a Bachelor of Science in middle and secondary education from West Georgia College and a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from Berry College. Subsequently, he received an add-on certification to his Master of Education degree in School Administration and Leadership from Jacksonville State University, and an Ed.S. in School Curriculum and Instruction from Berry College. Throughout his career, Mr. Hayes has also worked toward an associate degree in history and political science from Floyd Junior College.
In light of his professional achievements, Mr. Hayes has been honored on several occasions, earning a Teacher of the Year Award from Eastbrook Middle School in 2016. He was also nominated for a similar award at Gordon Central High School. Another standout moment in his career was taking seniors in AP American Government to Bill Clinton's presidential inauguration in 1997. He credits God, his parents, grandparents, wife, sons, and daughter-in-law for always supporting him in all avenues of life. Within the next two years, Mr. Hayes plans to retire, travel, work on his podcast, and continue to contribute to education, history, and the ministry. Brad and Judy Swanson Hayes reside on his family farm in the Halls Valley community of Chattooga County, Georgia. The Williams Farm and Cemetery have been in the family since January 15, 1850, when Brad's great, great, great-grandparents purchased the 160-acre farm.
