He focuses on creating curricula for leadership development, specializing in education, diversity, equity, and inclusion. In this capacity, he serves as a consultant for Rosarium LLC, where he primarily collaborates with clients from across multiple fields to create more inclusive and equitable workspaces. In addition, he leverages a deep well of experience in the realm of education, having previously served as the Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs and Operations at South University, where he was responsible for providing leadership and mentorship on behalf of faculty members and fostering a cross-functional work culture between 2019 and 2022. During this time, Dr. Robinson notably played an instrumental role in launching the university's Council for Diversity and Inclusion in 2020 and serving as doctoral adviser for a cache of graduate students.
Dr. Robinson began his career as an educational consultant with Rona Russ and Associates in 1998. The same year, he was appointed as the Dean of the Leadership Training Institute for the Church of God in Christ from 1998 to 2003 and, at the same time, served as the Director of Assessment for Counseling and Testing and Student Support Services at Benedict College from 1998 to 2005. Dr. Robinson then served as the Dean of the School of Honors and an Assistant Professor of Education for Benedict College until 2019. Among his professional accomplishments while in that role, he was awarded Honors Director of the Year by the National Association of African American Honors Programs in 2007, 2009, and 2011.
Well-regarded for his scholarly prowess in educational leadership, Dr. Robinson has contributed to the writing of several articles that have appeared in such publications as the Journal of Negro Education, the Journal of Higher Education, and the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. Furthermore, he has appeared as a presenter at a multitude of conferences and symposia, including the South Carolina Cultural and Linguistic Competency Summit in 2018, the National Network of Urban Renewal Annual Conference, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges Conference, and the National Association of African American Honors Programs Annual Conference. At the outset of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, he wrote a grant and was awarded funding for a college preparatory bridge program for Midlands High School seniors who finished their last months of formal education in a virtual setting.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Dr. Robinson has maintained his affiliation with several relevant organizations, such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the South Carolina Early Childhood Association, the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and the National Association of African American Honors Programs, for which he is a former president, chairman of the board of directors. Additionally, across the span of his career, he has been inducted into the honorable societies of Alpha Chi, Alpha Kappa Mu, and Kappa Delta Pi.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies and Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1992 and a Master of Education in Community and Occupational Programs in Education with an emphasis in counseling education from the same institution in 1997. He then earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Policy and Management, Instruction, and Curriculum supervision from the University of South Carolina in 2004. Dr. Robinson also studied and conducted graduate research at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. Well-qualified in his field, he holds a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificate from the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University and a certification in COVID-19 contract tracing from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
In accounting for his success, Dr. Robinson largely credits his deep and abiding religious faith. Among his most cherished accomplishments, he is particularly proud to have availed himself on behalf of students, one of whom emerged from juvenile imprisonment to attend Benedict College with only a GED. Thanks to Dr. Robinson's efforts, the student graduated with honors and went on to attend and graduate from the Harvard Divinity School. In the coming years, Dr. Robinson intends to expand his sought-after consulting firm in new markets that need highly trained leaders, solidifying it as a known brand in his niche. His goal is for the company to be his legacy, leaving it successful for another qualified individual to take over in the future and bring it to greater heights by training another generation of highly trained corporate leaders.
