Mr. du Plessis initially began his vocation serving as the owner of a construction company, where an unforeseen, preventable vehicle fire resulted in a tragedy due to the inadequate traditional fire extinguishing methods. This inspired him to establish his company, which develops firefighting systems that have been fabricated from environmentally friendly material and designed to save human lives. In his career related endeavors, Mr. du Plessis has obtained numerous patents for a variety of his designs, including a patent for a passenger vehicle fire extinguishing system, a self-expanding firefighting foam, a firefighting garment, an appliance system and a subsurface inline fire extinguishing method for oil and gas wells.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. du Plessis obtained a Master of Business Administration in South Africa. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Berkley, where he earned an honorary Doctor of Science in fire technology. As a commitment to his field, he has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the National Fire Protection Association, the American Fire Sprinkler Association, the Fire Apparatus Manufacturers' Association and the National Association of Distinguished Professionals. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. du Plessis contributes to various charities for children and serves as the founder of the Protect-O-Burn Foundation, which anonymously provides financial support to victims of burn-related injuries who are unable to afford their care.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. du Plessis is most proud of developing his patents and of achieving his honorary doctorate from the University of Berkley. Proudly serving by John F.
