BELMONT, MI, February 08, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Douglas M. Phillips has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Phillips is the owner of Conscious Clothing, a unisex apparel company built on the principles of sustainability and slow fashion. The company was founded by his late wife, Rose, who started sewing organic cloth diapers, diaper covers and clothes for her children 20 years ago, when they were young. Mr. Phillips joined Conscious Clothing 14 years ago to help with photography, and the pair grew the business together over the coming years. After Rose passed away in August 2022, Mr. Phillips and the rest of the Conscious Clothing team set out to carry on her legacy and creativity by designing and creating small-batch apparel and accessories using only ethically sourced, sustainable materials.
Mr. Phillips is inspired by Conscious Clothing's customers, especially their commitment to purchasing apparel that has a positive impact on the planet. He believes that spreading that education is their legacy and looks forward to continuing. Looking toward the future, Mr. Phillips hopes to make Conscious Clothing into a nonprofit organization, and keep the price point low so the brand and its values can reach the widest possible audience. His long-term goal is to get consumers to expect more sustainability and giveback from the brands they choose to support. In essence, voting with their dollars in an effort to change the for profit capitalistic system into one that better reflects their values while playing by the system's rules.
Prior to becoming involved in Conscious Clothing, Mr. Phillips owned a furniture-making company. Deeply appreciative of good design, he is a member of Kendall College of Art and Design and Grand Rapids for Art and Design.
