Originally, PTB Global Advisors was incorporated as Pacific Tech Bridge in the Washington, D.C., metro area, which he founded in 2000 after a successful tenure in policy analysis. The strategic consultancy, which specializes in global research and cybersecurity, is inclusive of a board of directors and serves government ministries in Japan, banking institutions, think tanks, and, among other entities, recently expanded its services into China.
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Goldstein served as the vice president of international consulting on behalf of the New World Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia, from 1998 to 2009. His worked concentrated on building trilateral ties between the U.S., China, and Japan.
Mr. Goldstein attended Indiana State University majoring in history and philosophy. Following his university years where he was a political activist, Mr. Goldstein began his involvement with organizations in the U.S. national security system. In the late 1970s, he was part of the first U.S. anti-terrorism operation and later leveraged his knowledge and connections into becoming a consultant on international relations and national security.
At one point, he was meeting with President Ronald Reagan's personal bodyguard discussing international terrorism between 1982 and 1983. Later on, he traveled to Japan meeting Japanese government officials on the 1983 Star War policy called the Strategic Defense Initiative. He arranged back-channel discussions between U.S. and Russian officials. This experience led to become involved with some high-level, back-channel discussions in China from 2006 to 2019. Moreover, Mr. Goldstein was part of these unofficial back-channel discussion with the director of the National Security Agency and deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
