MARIETTA, GA, February 10, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Brandy Barnett Holloman has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over two decades of expertise, Dr. Holloman specializes in health education. Since 2019, she has found much success as the founder and consultant at Barnett Health Consulting LLC. In this capacity, she is responsible for providing equitable health education, as well as training and creating programs in adolescent health, youth development and sexual health interventions. In addition to her main vocation, she is active as an adjunct professor at Kent State University and California Baptist University. Prior to this role, Dr. Holloman contributed to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a vaccine confidence technical assistance lead, a health communications and education specialist, and an instructional designer from 2020 to 2022.
Dr. Holloman initially began her career working as a graduate assistant track and field coach at the University of Mississippi from 2001 until 2003. Following this post, she served as a grant coordinator and a program director at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia from 2003 to 2005. Between 2005 and 2011, Dr. Holloman garnered expertise as a public health educator at Cobb and Douglas Public Health providing adolescent health programs in schools and community-based organizations.
Dr. Holloman continued her career at the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential, where she worked initially as a training and technical assistance provider and later as a training department manager from 2011 until 2019. The role at GCAPP served as one of her most meaningful roles to ensure youth received evidence-based sexual health education in schools and communities. During this time, she was also active as a consultant trainer with a health equity organization, ETR Associates, and a senior research consultant at ETR Services, LLC between 2016 and 2019. Dr. Holloman then contributed to the Georgia Health Policy Center as a research associate II from 2019 to 2020, followed by a post as guest lecturer at Tulane University and Auburn University in 2021 and 2022.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Holloman pursued an education at the University of Mississippi, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2001, followed by a Master of Science in Health Promotion in 2003. She also served as a four-year letter winner on the University of Mississippi's track and field team. She continued her academic efforts at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, earning a doctorate in health education and Academic Excellence honors for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in 2021. As a commitment to her field, she has been certified as a health education specialist (CHES) via the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Holloman serves as a public health ambassador for Black Ladies in Public Health and as a health subject matter expert for her local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Dr. Holloman has received multiple awards, including the Sex Educator of the Week award from the Center for Family Life Education in 2013 and the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential Employee of the Quarter awards in 2012 and 2017, to only name a few. She was also featured in the Center for Sex Education's "How I Got into Sex Ed" publication in 2014 where she celebrates the open communication she received from her mother about sexual health and making responsible decisions. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud of training and providing technical assistance to professionals who teach young individuals to make healthy decisions and prevent teen pregnancies by empowering them and their families with methods of open communication throughout all the stages of childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
Reflecting on her career, Dr. Holloman attributes much of her success to her resilience, internal motivation to help people and passion for her specialty. Looking toward the future, she aspires to expand the scope of her consulting work on adolescent sexual and reproductive health topics. Additionally, Dr. Holloman aims to continue advancing as a professor of public health and hopes to serve on a full-time basis in the federal government focusing on health equity and leading the developing meaningful public health programs and policies.
