After years as a corporate chef, director of operations, and partner in the culinary field, Mr. Harvey established Harvey's, a local restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia. A neighborhood-style restaurant that aims to serve as the "home of good food and friends," Mr. Harvey takes a very personal approach to business in the hospitality industry, one that incorporates a hometown feel but with a modern twist.
Open seven days per week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Harvey's also hosts brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as daily specials and a dedicated catering menu for off-site gatherings. Aside from regular business hours, Mr. Harvey hosts special events throughout the season. He will also be offering a special set menu for this upcoming Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Receiving so much positive feedback from local patrons since he opened the restaurant, Mr. Harvey has already accrued a large clientele of regular customers. He has also been told many times that it seems as if the restaurant has been there for decades because it is such a warm and inviting gathering place. As a testament to his success, Mr. Harvey has been able to retain nearly all his employees since his grand opening nearly a year ago, crediting his innate ability to work well with others and the positive culture that he created for their retention. Proud to know that his team is equally as invested in the growth and success of the restaurant as he is, Mr. Harvey looks forward to continued success in the field.
As Mr. Harvey continues to expand his business, he aims to open several additional restaurants. He also aspires to begin working with local schools throughout the community so that he can teach students more about the field and provide mentorship to those interested in pursuing a career in culinary arts.
Mr. Harvey began his career in the food industry during high school. After graduating, he attended the Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland, graduating in 2012 with an associate's degree in culinary arts. Prior to opening Harvey's in 2022, Mr. Harvey gained experience at Casa Luna, an Italian restaurant, where he earned the role of chef de cuisine. He also worked at The Partisan where he focused on the art of charcuterie and for the Tuskies Group as the corporate chef overseeing operations for several of the organization's restaurants.
Honoring Mr. Harvey's achievements, Harvey's restaurant has been named Best New Restaurant in the City and Best New Business in the City by the City of Falls Church in 2022. Proud of this accomplishment, he notes that despite several other restaurants opening at the same time, he was still recognized with both awards. Mr. Harvey has also notably been recognized as the Best Chef in Loudoun County.
