Mr. Maza is a civil and structural engineer celebrating more than 30 years of expertise in his field. Since 2020, he has been a lead and principal structural engineer for energy and chemicals firm Worley, bringing to the company an in-depth knowledge of the specialized needs of the energy industry. Naturally analytical and a big-picture thinker, Mr. Maza was drawn to engineering from a young age and enrolled in the University of the Philippines, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1992. Throughout his career, he has pursued additional professional credentials, and is a licensed professional engineer in Louisiana, Texas, and the Philippines.
Mr. Maza began his career in 1993 as a civil and structural engineer for Eigentech Engineering Consultancy Services, departing in 1995 to accept a similar position with the A. de Vera Corporation. Between 1997 and 2001, he was a civil and structural engineer for D.M. Consunji Inc., and he spent the next two years with Fluor Daniel Inc. Through the 2000s, Mr. Maza worked primarily on international projects as an employee of Petrocon Arabia Limited and International Plant Services. He accepted a position with Jacobs Engineering in 2011, where he continued to excel as a member of civil/structural/architectural (CSA) and field services departments until moving into his current role.
He is also an artist. He has participated in various art shows and cultural events in Houston, together with his wife Lorna. In 2012, they joined Fine Art America, where they display and sell prints of their art works. Their artworks have reached many cities and states in the US, as well as countries like Australia, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Maza was presented with a 2005 Employee of the Year award, among other honors. He credits his success to the support of his family and to the strength that he derives from his faith and looks forward to being able to pay his success forward to others in the future through mentorship opportunities. He is a former member of the American Institute of Steel Construction, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines, and the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, and has been active in community and special interest organizations, which included the Filipinx Artists of Houston, the UP Alumni Association (UPAA), the UP Epsilon Chi Fraternity Alumni Association, and Spectra Artists. He served as the second vice president and as the internal editor of the UPAA Houston Chapter from 2007 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2015, respectively.
In his personal time, Mr. Maza has written numerous essays on topics in faith and religion, which he hopes to expand in the coming years.
