He also authored his first book in 1992, titled "The Influence of the Medieval University on the Latin Church and Secular Government Politics," via Edwin Mellen Press. The 235-page comprehensive book explores the involvement of medieval universities in high politics.
As an educator, Dr. Scott taught various history courses. He notably specialized in the history of university mission: the international Chautauqua Movement, which was a popular movement in adult and higher education that flourished during the late 19th and early 20th centuries: and, most recently, the Phoenician expansion, an ancient civilization that established colonies in the prehistoric Mediterranean to the Atlantic, thus stimulating Western civilization, Dr. Scott first served as a graduate (administrative) assistant at his alma mater, the University of Toledo, from 1984 to 1989. He subsequently held faculty positions at Greenwich University in Hilo, Hawaii, Northwest State Community College and Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, and Huntington University in Huntington. Indiana. Additionally, Dr, Scott was a consultant at ShopAmerica in Toledo from 1989 to 1992.
As an extension of his work, Dr. Scott has served as an invited speaker at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York, a local national organization comprised of artists, educators, thinkers, faith leaders, and friends that focus on discovering the best in humanity.
Dr. Scott is a member of his local Lions Clubs International. He is also recognized as a Jack Wiech Fellow of the Texas Lions Camp, which serves as a residential summer camp for children with physical disabilities, type 1 diabetes, and cancer. Most honorably, Dr. Scott was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army with the U.S. Merchant Marines.
Highly educated, Dr. Scott studied at the University of Toledo where he garnered a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1981, a Master of Education in counseling in 1984, and a Doctor of Philosophy in higher education administration in 1991. He is recognized as a member of Phi Alpha Theta.
