Soon after, Mr. Timberlake also accepted a part-time opportunity to work at Historic Arms Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia, in 2012 as a firearms instructor and marksmanship trainer.

Mr. Timberlake's earlier success in the industry included serving as a multi-discipline security protective officer in Williamsburg, Virginia, between 1986 to 1999 and subsequently as an operations officer from 1999 to 2012. During his distinguished tenure as an investigator with the U.S. Government, Mr. Timberlake garnered recognition for his work overseas, as well as for his collaboration with other leaders and policymakers in the industry.
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Timberlake spent 10 years with the Virginia Department of Transportation. Involved with many aspects of transportation and roadway matters, he notably operated equipment, supervised crews, and was instrumental in maintenance work, construction inspection, and quality assurance for the materials used on the roadways.
Mr. Timberlake initially studied theater arts and drama at the University of Richmond between 1975 and 1977. After returning to college several years later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminology magna cum laude at Saint Leo University in 1989. Mr. Timberlake also received credentials as a certified protection professional through ASIS International, became a certified pistol instructor through the National Rifle Association, a certified range safety officer, certified Refuse to be a Victim instructor, a certified Utah firearms permit instructor, and a certified situational awareness practitioner.
Mr. Timberlake is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Society for Industrial Security, the National Tactical Officer's Association, and the International Security Driver Association. In light of his achievements, he was the recipient of a Career Commendation Medal from David Petraeus, a retired U.S. Army general. Mr. Timberlake was also decorated with numerous medals for his contributions to keeping people alive overseas during an intense, five-month training program.
