Prior to this role, Dr. Johnson held the post of an evaluation specialist at the Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont from 2009 to 2017, while concurrently serving as an adjunct professor at Gaston College in 2016.
Dr. Johnson initially began his career working as a peer admissions counselor at the West Virginia State University from 1997 to 2000. Between 2001 and 2005, he garnered expertise as a graduate assistant evaluator at the Marshall University Graduate College, a psychiatric specialist at the Children's National Hospital, a service coordinator and a therapist at Vesta Behavioral Health Inc. and a human services coordinator at the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Dr. Johnson was then appointed to the role of a rehabilitation counselor and consultant at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, where he served from 2005 until 2007, while concurrently contributing to York Technical Community College as an adjunct professor in 2005.
Dr. Johnson continued his career serving as a program coordinator and a team leader at the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, he was active as a case coordinator at Access Family Services. Following this post, Dr. Johnson found much success as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix from 2009 until 2011.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Johnson pursued an education at the West Virginia State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, with a minor in economics in 2000. He continued his academic efforts at Marshall University, earning a Master of Arts in counseling in 2003, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in health administration in 2009. As a commitment to his field, Dr. Johnson has been certified as a case manager, a life coach, a career development facilitator, a North Carolina early educator and a licensed professional counselor.
Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Johnson is most proud of the accolades and the expertise that he has garnered throughout his vocational journey, as well as his familial achievements as a husband and a father.
