Outside of her primary career efforts, Dr. Torres-Rimbau has been an independent consultant for dual language immersion programs since 2005. She also served as the chair of the dual language program at the University of St. Thomas-Houston in 2013. Additionally, she volunteers as an English as a second language teacher at her local church. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she earned a Doctor of Education in bilingual and second language education from the University of Houston in 1987.
Within the coming years, Dr. Torres-Rimbau intends to continue her involvement in educational projects in terms of training teachers working in dual language programs and professionals in learning English. She also plans to engage in more consulting and volunteer work with immigrant populations in her community.
