Born and raised in the Appalachian Hills of Western Maryland, Ms. Hummel has had a life-long passion for music, singing hymnal songs early on and later playing alongside her uncle, an expert violinist. At the age of 14, she taught herself how to play the guitar and practiced songs by Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, and Hank Williams. Backed by years of professional songwriting experience, Ms. Hummel excels today as a country, gospel, and bluegrass artist with original releases such as "The Red, White, and Blue" and "Mistletoe and Holly."
In her first career, Ms. Hummel was as the owner and operator of Hummel's Furniture for over 31 years. She actively volunteers as a musician at her church, where she organized the Christmas program for many years. Ms. Hummel has released several music CDs and she sings as the lead vocalist for her band, Country Grass. Likewise, she has performed at various events, including We've Got Talent Cumberland Edition, the Appalachian Festival, the Burlington Apple Festival, Friday After Five, and the Berlin Music Festival.

In 2006, Loretta was a finalist in the Maryland Senior America Pageant and in 2012 she became an ordained Music Minister. In 2022, the Country Gospel Music Association (CMGA) awarded her the international "Golden Heart Award" for her song "Water in the Well." She has previously won multiple Silver and Gold Heart awards through the CMGA, including Favorite Artist of the Year, Songwriter, Female Vocalist, and Yodeler. The International Country Gospel Music Association awarded her the Gold Cross Award as the "Bluegrass Artist of the Year" in 2022.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Loretta's real passion in life is to share her love of country Gospel music and spread the joy of God through song. In the coming years, Ms. Hummel intends to continue her songwriting and return to Nashville to produce another music CD.
