Driven to help grieving families HEAL through photography, Mr. Knight presently excels as the chief executive officer of Your Legacy Photography. Likewise, he is the founder and chief executive officer of Damascus Road Enterprises, LLC, and their ground-breaking work in the Gospel music industry. Alongside his work, Mr. Knight contributed to his community for 25 years as a volunteer photographer with The Love Express Christian Newspaper.
An expert in his field, Mr. Knight holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cartooning and Animation from the High School of Art and Design, which he earned in 1979. Subsequently, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies and Art from Brooklyn College, a Master of Arts in Photography from Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus, and a business plan Certificate through the Workshop in Business Opportunities.
In light of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Knight has been honored many times, earning the Gospel Music Workshop of America's Horizon Award in 2002 and a nomination to the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2020. As a three-time author, including the first full color photography book on the Gospel music industry, he won the Single Image Award through Black & White Magazine and has curated the 1st Art of Church Photography Exhibit.
Similarly, he was featured twice in the American Funeral Directors Magazine, the New York Daily News, and at the NYC SOHO Photo Gallery for his trailblazing work in funeral photography. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in the reactions he receives from grieving families healing through his photography. As he puts it, he helps families remember most of what they've forgotten about the funeral service, and all of what they never saw, referring to the joy and love that takes place during the funeral, intermingled with the grief. In the coming years, Mr. Knight intends to become the premier funeral photographer in the United States, continue publishing photography books, and establish his own art of funeral photography magazine.
