Excelling in the health care sector for more than two decades, Ms. Scott is an advanced practice registered nurse who is the CEO of Shepherds Staff LLC since 2015. In her specially trained role, she presently focuses on working with patients suffering from dementia and helping family members and loved ones understand the disease process. Apart from her coaching responsibilities, Ms. Scott frequently hosts presentations for the Alzheimer's Association and the Veteran's Administration, among other groups and individuals. She also recently began collaborating with the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and the local health department to provide faith-based training for parishioners at churches.
Previously, Ms. Scott served as the director of the emergency room at Regional Medical Center (now Regional One Health) in Memphis as well as CEO of Memphis Health Center - Federally Health Qualified Health Centers. During her tenure of over 15 years at both organizations she spearheaded the development of six primary care clinics in Memphis, which were established to meet the needs of the growing underserved population. She also assisted The Regional Medical Center in creating an urgent care clinic to decrease the non-emergent care volume in the emergency room. Additionally, Ms. Scott in coordination with the Health Department managed four neighborhood clinics to ensure coordinated primary care in multiple areas of the city. She served as Executive Director for the 10 clinics.
Ms. Scott worked for Opturo, which is a subsidiary of United Healthcare. Gaining extensive experience with the elderly population in the home. She was primarily responsible for "House Calls" providing annual visits and assessments as well as communicating with insurers and primary care providers. Her role also required a significant amount of traveling, which Ms. Scott enjoyed.
Ms. Scott is determined to continue working with caregivers, families and patients with dementia, a disease that results in the loss of cognitive functioning and significantly interferes with a patient's daily life. She notably attributes much of her success to her grandmother and mentor Clovis Emanuel – Office of Management and Budget Director in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her mentor succumbed to dementia in 2022.
