Ms. Gregory, an expert in historical preservation, founded the Cades Cove Preservation Association Inc. (CCPA), a nonprofit organization in Maryville, Tennessee, in 2001, after previously serving as the president and treasurer. Established so that she could preserve the heritage and cultures of the Cades Cove community, which is notably positioned in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee, Ms. Gregory subsequently helped form the Cades Cove Preservation Association Museum in Maryville, Tennessee, which is located in the Thompson-Brown House. In 2021, Mr. Gregory also became a published author with the release of "Humor of the Coves."
Having spent many years in the electrical and computer engineering industry, Ms. Gregory is a former electrical designer and quality analyst at EloTouch Company. She also worked for several other respected organizations in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Alabama through which she performed computer-aided design and quality analyst functions. An advocate for women in engineering, Ms. Gregory has found that more and more women are being accepted into non-traditional jobs and she hopes that the trend will continue.
Avid of the importance of giving back to the community, Ms. Gregory has been involved in dozens of other civic, nonprofit, and religious endeavors outside of the CCPA. Apart from volunteering for the Englewood United Methodist Church assisting senior citizens, she established five history preservation community organizations, including the Englewood Area Historical Museum. She was also influential as a past vice-president of her children's school's Parent-Teacher Association, and as a former leader of the Girl Scouts of America and Boy Scouts of America. Among other involvement, Ms. Gregory was deeply invested in equality, protesting in several women's marches in Washington at the White House and serving as an activist, past vice president, and past president of the Knoxville, Tennessee, chapter of the National Organization of Women. Ms. Gregory has received numerous recognitions for her contributions to her community.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Gregory completed coursework at Pellissippi State Community College in 1980, as well as additional coursework in electrical engineering at the University of Tennessee and Pellissippi State Community College between 1980 and 1981. Ultimately, she received a Bachelor of Business Administration at Maryville College in 1997. Ms. Gregory also received certifications as an electrician, quality analyst, and computer-aided designer and as an ISO 9001 quality inspector.
