A leader in the Florida housing industry, Ms. Lovette is distinguished for her unparalleled management of the Winter Park Housing Authority, a nonprofit organization that owns and operates affordable housing within Winter Park city limits. Since stepping into her role as executive director in 2019, she has overseen grants management, rental income and property management, handled compliance, policies and federal regulations, and supervised the authority's staff. Notably, Ms. Lovette has made history as the first African American to lead the organization.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Lovette earned an Associate of Arts in business administration and management from Valencia College in 2003 and a bachelor's degree in business management and entrepreneurship from the University of Central Florida in 2010. She was inspired to enter the housing industry because she saw an opportunity to start a new project in her community and make a positive impact. After six years in the banking industry, she accepted a role as case manager for Orlando Housing Authority, and in 2011 became deputy director of the Seminole County Housing Authority. After assuming leadership of the Winter Park Housing Authority four years ago, she successfully petitioned the board to bring management of the organization back in-house after decades of third-party management, an achievement of which she is particularly proud.
Ms. Lovette was honored to be featured in Winter Park Magazine's 2022 Most Influential People program, which recognizes individuals who make a difference through their professions, volunteerism, philanthropy or community engagement. She attributes her success to God and to her husband of 13 years, as well as the mentors who have helped her grow and advance throughout her career. Above all, she lives by the Golden Rule: "do unto others as you will have them do unto you." Looking toward the future, Ms. Lovette hopes to redevelop a property, become the first modular development in Winter Park, expand her network and advance as a leader.
