Ms. Cruz-Stoessel holds an advanced degree in her field, having earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Columbia University in 1995. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from Lehman College, which she completed in 1983, and an Associate of Nursing from Bronx Community College that dates to 1976. Her industry credentials are equally as impressive and include the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Certified Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse designations, and she has accumulated practical clinical experience across numerous elite positions. For example, at Jacobi Medical Center, Ms. Cruz-Stoessel accepted varied appointments, serving as a staff nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from 1976 to 1978 and as the assistant head nurse of that unit from 1978 to 1984. From 1984 to 1985, she was the Nursing Supervisor of Surgery, Post and Antepartum, NICU, Newborn Nursery and Pediatrics, and from 1986 to 1989, Ms. Cruz-Stoessel served as a clinician in the NICU unit at that same institution.
A committed educator and administrator, Ms. Cruz-Stoessel has contributed as both a writer and coordinator to the NICU program at Jacobi Medical Center since 1989. In fact, she authored an advanced neonatal course that was approved by the New York State Nurses Association; moreover, from 1989 to 1992, she was a nursing education instructor at Jacobi Medical Center. Her expertise extends even more broadly, as Ms. Cruz-Stoessel proudly worked as a public health nurse with Visiting Nurse Services from 1985 to 1986 and as an Infection Control Practitioner between 1992 and 1993.
