Leveraging more than three decades of excellence as an artist and architect, Mr. Montoya has earned distinction as a consultant with his own company, Montoya Architects. Since 2020, he has focused his efforts on consulting on designing and building projects as well as providing construction administration services.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Montoya began his career as a designer and draftsman for Pfluger Associates Architects in 1985 and was a job captain for Giorgio Balli in 1987. He took a similar role with Spillis Candela and Partners later that year and was a project designer and manager for Borrelli Associates in 1988. He continued his career with Arquitectonica International Corp. in 1991 and served as a realtor associate with J. Poole Associates Realtors in 1992 and with Wimbish-Riteway Realtors in 1994. While in this role, he also was a project designer and field representative for R.J. Heisenbottle Architects from 1995 until 1997.
Mr. Montoya subsequently was a design and field representative for Nichols Brosch and Sandoval Architect in 1997 until becoming the president and owner of Montoya Architecture in 2001. In 2006, he served as the senior project architect for Brown and Brown Architects and became a construction administrator architect for MSA Architects Inc. in 2015. He then worked as a CAD draftsman for Kobi Karp Architects and served as a construction administrator for MSA Architects Inc. in 2018. Among his professional accomplishments, he was honored with a Best Painting Award by the International Interior Design Association Art by Design Exhibition in 2011.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Montoya earned a Bachelor of Science in architecture in 1981 and a Master of Architecture in 1984, both from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Well-qualified in his field, he holds a real estate sales associate license as well as an architecture license for the State of Florida.
Accounting for his success, Mr. Montoya credits his ability to teach himself how to be an all-around architect, gaining the experience he needed to progress in his career. Also passionate about his field, he enjoyed working hard throughout his professional development, and intends to continue doing so with his own consulting company.
