Prior to his role as VP and Director of Corporate University Relations for SLB, Dr. Abusalbi began his career as a research assistant professor for the University of Minnesota in 1981-1982 and was an assistant professor with the University of Houston in 1982-1984. Having published more than 20 cited papers in physics and chemistry, he subsequently joined the industry as a software development engineer for Schlumberger in 1984. He continued his career with Schlumberger, rising through the ranks until he became the vice president and director of corporate university relations in 2011. Over the course of his career, he developed a patent for "Method and System for Data Context Service" in 2008. He was also a valued member of the American Physics Society, the American Chemical Society and the International Atomic Energy Agency, among several other professional organizations.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Abusalbi earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Lebanese University in 1974. He then attained a Master of Science in Physics from the American University of Beirut in 1976 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Atomic Physics from Louisiana State University in 1981. Well-qualified in his field, he holds a certificate in strategic innovation, business administration and management from IMD Lausanne.
