GWYNN OAK, MD, March 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kenny Wright has been included Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Backed by years of experience in the music industry, studio recording and more, Mr. Wright has earned distinction as an independent recording artist with Knee Deep Records, and as the bassist, composer and bandleader of The Kenny Wright Experience. In this capacity, he excels at bringing out the best of the 60's and 70's funk, blues and jazz into a jazz fusion style all his own. Since the mid-2000s Kenny has released a number of well received albums, including "Comin at Ya," "Herbie Miles and Me," "Jazz Expressions," "My Roots" and "Keep Looking Up."
Having cultivated a love for music since he was a young boy, Kenny drew inspiration from seeing The Beatles appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Drawing further inspiration from the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone, he learned to play bass guitar in high school and later joined the California-based band Don and the Sunsets, where he specialized in jazz and R&B. Following this period he joined the U.S. Army and served for three years on behalf of his country. After this he served as a postal worker for some years, but feeling as though something was missing in his life, he turned back to music.
While Mr. Wright's musical journey has been filled with many standout moments, he is most proud to have been able to teach guitar and bass to those seeking to follow his example and pursue careers of their own in the industry. Additionally he has worked with a number of outstanding musical acts, including the Temptations Revue, Supremes and Oscar Brown Jr. A big thrill for him was a chance meeting in Lagos Nigeria with Stevie Wonder and backing him at the Festac Festival.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Wright credits his overall success to the support of his family, especially his wife. Within the next few years or so he intends to play concerts and experience continued growth and success.
