Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in juvenile justice and gender-specific programming, Ms. Lesley has earned distinction as an assistant program director for Heartland Family Service. Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on overseeing 10 programming staff members while interviewing and screening potential clients to assess whether they are appropriate for admittance to the substance abuse program she directs. She ensures the low-income housing paperwork is completed correctly and collects, analyzes and reports on data she gathers. Additionally, she has been an adjunct faculty instructor for the Metropolitan Community College's sociology and human services departments since 2008, teaching criminal justice, introduction to sociology, marriage and family, cultural diversity, juvenile justice and human relations.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Lesley began her career as an intake specialist with Heartland Family Service in 1999 and was promoted to a program specialist in 2003. She then served as an adjunct instructor for Kaplan University in 2005 and was an admissions and family support services specialist as well as a mentor coordinator for the Omaha Home for Boys in 2007. Following this time, she served as a juvenile probation officer for the State of Nebraska in 2009 and became a juvenile justice resources supervisor for the State of Nebraska in 2010. She returned to the Omaha Home for Boys in 2012 as a program manager. Ms. Lesley returned to work for probation in 2013 and then became a program director for Uta Halee Academy, Rite of Passage in 2015.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Lesley earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1997. She then attained a Master of Science in criminal justice with an emphasis in counseling from the same institution in 2001. Well-qualified in her field, she was a certified probation officer trainer and holds a secondary teaching permit for teaching high school students. She is also a certified medication aide.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Lesley is proud to have been named Educator of the Term by Kaplan University in 2006. She was honored with an Above and Beyond Award by the State of Nebraska Probation office and she was named Employee of the Month by Uta Halee Academy, Rite of Passage in 2022. Additionally, she is a valued member of the community advisory board of Uta Halee Academy.
