Mr. Lehnortt is an experienced health care compliance professional of more than 40 years. In 2019, he joined DJO Global LLC, a subsidiary of Enovis Corporation, and medical technology growth company based in Lewisville, Texas, as the senior director of compliance and billing. Apart from creating policies and procedures, he is responsible for providing guidance and support to various Enovis business units and the revenue cycle management or billing group. Mr. Lehnortt is notably an expert in physician, hospital, and durable medical equipment (DME) coding and billing, the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance and self-referral law, as well as policy analysis and development.
Introduced to the health care industry in 1983, Mr. Lehnortt was initially recruited by the American College of Emergency Physicians. He spent nearly a decade with the organization as the assistant director of government affairs and ultimately, as the first director of physician reimbursement. Mr. Lehnortt subsequently became the director of the office of billing compliance at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas from 1998 to 2006 before being promoted to assistant vice president/compliance officer between 2006 and 2012, director of practice plan billing compliance from 2013 to 2017, and as the provider education and southwestern health resources compliance officer between 2017 and 2019.
Aside from his full-time career endeavors, Mr. Lehnortt has lent his expertise as a consultant on behalf of several hospital emergency department operations and physician billing companies. Renowned for his expertise, he has also been called upon to speak publicly at multiple conferences, including annual meetings and regional conferences of the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). Mr. Lehnortt was also a two-time speaker at the national conferences of the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA).
Civically, Mr. Lehnortt had previously been active with a Dallas-based Methodist church as a parishioner. He plans to begin volunteering with his wife at a local animal shelter in Albuquerque, New Mexico when he retires.
Highly educated, Mr. Lehnortt garnered a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in history at Clarion State College in 1981 and a Master of Arts in political economy at the University of Texas at Dallas in 1982. He also previously earned certification in health care compliance through the HCCA.
As a respected member of the community, Mr. Lehnortt was honored to receive a Good Citizen Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1977.
