Leveraging more than five decades of excellence as a marketing company executive and fine arts instructor, Mr. Donald has earned distinction as an adjunct faculty member and instructor with the College for Creative Studies. Since 2008, he has focused his efforts on teaching figure drawing courses, having previously taught courses in design fundamentals, portfolio workshops, graphic design and art direction. Additionally, he serves as an early member of the Graphic Artists Guild and is a valued member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the American Film Institute, the Art Directors Club of New York and the Detroit Institute of Arts, among other professional organizations.

He won first place in the US TV Commercials Festival in 1981 and was awarded a CLIO Certificate from the CLIO Awards Advisory Board in 1982. Accomplished in his artistic career despite having functional blindness in one eye, he is planning numerous upcoming shows of his work, including in Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels. He has previously shown his work in a group show in Zurich, Switzerland and at the NYC ArtWalk and continues to create new drawings and paintings.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Donald began his career as a freelance graphic designer with the Ministry of Natural Resources in Canada in 1970 until taking a role as instructor for the Cambrian College Applied Arts and Technology-Canada in 1974. Following this time, he served as the senior art director for Batten Burton Durstine and Osborne in 1976 and as an art supervisor for J. Walter Thompson in 1979. He subsequently was a group supervisor for Leo Burnett in 1983 and associate creative director with Deleeuw Ferguson and Associates in 1988. He continued his career working with BBDO Worldwide and Campbell Ewald, joining The Hopkins Group as a partner, and associate creative director in 1990. He subsequently served as a manager of the design group and executive art director for Cengage Learning in 2004.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Donald completed college coursework at Kentucky State University and at the Center for Creative Studies. Well-qualified in his field, he attained a certification in advertising design from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan in 1975. He was mentored by Harry Borgman, who told him to seek recognition, not approval, and taught him to be humble and grateful throughout his career development as an artist.
Within the coming years, Mr. Donald hopes to gain a one-man show in New York, having promised his mentor he would attempt this feat in his honor. As an educator, his primary goal is to encourage developing artists to try to pursue their passions while being generous with their fellows in the community, lifting one another up as they progress.
