CHESTERFIELD, MO, March 07, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cathy W. Koetting, PhD, DNP, APRN, CPNP, FNP-C, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in healthcare and nursing leadership, Dr. Koetting has earned distinction as an associate professor with Stephens College. Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on teaching three classes each semester, growing her class size year over year. She has also contributed a wealth of research to the field over the course of her career, dedicated to advancing of future doctorally-prepared nurse practitioners and undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
Outside of her primary career efforts, Dr. Koetting lends her expertise to the editorial board of the Journal of Forensic Nursing and has served as advocacy co-chair for the St. Louis Nurses in Advanced Practice. She is also a valued member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Also a dedicated civil advocate, by volunteering with the Down Syndrome Society. She supports the Judevine Center for Autism, as she has two sons with autism who receive support services from the center.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Koetting began her career as an instructor with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2003 and was a family and pediatric nurse practitioner for the Institute for Family Medicine in 2009. She then was an assistant teaching professor for the University of Missouri-Columbia and a family and pediatric nurse practitioner for the Walgreens Take Care Clinic in 2010. She continued her teaching career as an assistant professor with Saint Louis University in 2012, earning tenure and promotion to associate professor in 2017. During this time, she was a family nurse practitioner with Mercy in 2013 and then with Advance Health in 2014. Following this time, she was a family and pediatric nurse practitioner with SSM Health in 2019 and joined Esse Health later that year. In 2020, she became an associate teaching professor for the University of Missouri-Saint Louis and was promoted to the executive director of the Clinical Practice Programs College of Nursing in 2021.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Koetting earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981 and a Master of Arts in secondary education from Stanford University in 1982. She subsequently graduated from the nursing program at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center School of Nursing in 1992. She then attained a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2001 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2006, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She gained a Doctor of Nursing Practice in nursing leadership from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in 2010 and secured a Doctor of Philosophy in nursing from Duquesne University School of Nursing in 2021. Well-qualified in her field, she is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and family nurse practitioner with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.
Within the coming years, Dr. Koetting intends to continue developing the nursing program until it becomes a leader in the Missouri area, allowing more students to avail themselves of the program where they will receive individualized attention to hone their skills. A lifelong learner by nature, she is a curious, inquisitive and professional nurse with a keen ability to consider things from various perspectives, which has served her well in her career.
