Previously, Dr. Howell-Canada worked as a pediatrician providing clinical services at Milwaukee Indian Health Board/Rainbow Community Health Center, Covenant Medical Group, Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, and University of Southern California Keck Medical School of Medicine Las Vegas Culinary Health Center. She served as Medical Director and Pediatric clinician at Westside Healthcare Association, Inc. Dr. Howell-Canada has had a plethora of experiences throughout her career as owner and clinician of Alaska Pediatric Associates, PC., President-elect and Chief of the Medical Staff at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center and Medical Director for Aetna.
An expert in her field, Dr. Howell-Canada holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, along with a Medical Degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI. She completed her Internship and Residency in Pediatrics at the University of Maryland Medical System. Due to her vast breadth of knowledge and understanding of the interworking of the clinical and administrative collaborative, she co-authored "Lessons Learned During COVID-19 Pandemic Case Study of a Las Vegas Clinic," which was presented through the American Academy of Pediatrics at the NCE 2020 convention.
Considering her achievements, Dr. Howell-Canada received community recognition awards through services at Westside Healthcare Association, Inc. While her career has been filled with a multitude of first-time highlights, she takes the most pride in watching babies transition from birth to first grade education. Though hard work and dedication have propelled her, she credits humility and a great familial and friend support system. Within the coming years, Dr. Howell-Canada intends to focus on being a mentor and coach to upcoming physicians and clinical professionals. Outside her work, Dr. Howell-Canada contributes her time and talents to and through Salem Baptist Church of Chicago and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
