During the early stages of her career, Ms. Schwerdel gained valuable expertise in the field as a medical laboratory scientist for Enzo Clinical Labs, and in public relations and marketing through the financial services industry in which she worked for 15 years. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Schwerdel aligns herself with the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), an organization in which she has held various board positions including her current role as constituent society president.
An expert in her field, Ms. Schwerdel holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from Stony Brook University. Subsequently, she became licensed and certified through the American Society for Clinical Pathology. While her career has been filled with standout moments including presenting student research in hematology at the ASCLS clinical lab expo in Los Angeles where she was recognized as one of the Keys to the Future, recipient of the ASCLS Sara Marie Cicarelli Member of the Year award, and honored as an Outstanding Alumni in a ceremony at Stony Brook University, she takes the most pride in her work at Truetox Laboratories helping in the fight against the opioid epidemic, and supporting the CLS program at her alma mater through the Equipment Fund and student mentoring. In the near future, Ms. Schwerdel aims to experience the continued growth and success of her career.
