Mr. Cantrell has earned distinction as the executive director for Rite of Passage.

Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in advocating for justice for young people, Mr. Cantrell has earned distinction as the executive director for Rite of Passage. Since 2013, he has focused his efforts on managing multiple juvenile justice/behavioral health programs in 5 different states, working with state officials to address any juvenile justice issues in those states. He seeks out opportunities to expand their business for new programs to help more youth, including working with the programs directly to ensure fidelity in their processes to make sure that all treatment and education programs are being performed effectively.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Cantrell was awarded the Dr. Simon Dinitz Award for achieving excellence in community corrections. He was named to Governor Asa Hutchinson's Juvenile Justice Reform Board. He is also a sitting member of the Florida Juvenile Justice Association Executive Board. He is a valued member of the American Correctional Association and the National Juvenile Justice Network. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Cantrell earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Union College.
Within the coming years, Mr. Cantrell intends to continue leading his team to ensure they are strategizing appropriately, taking the necessary steps to keep their kids safe from any kind of abuse across 16 states. He believes each young person deserves to have the resources necessary to have the opportunity to reach their full potential, and so he plans to continue pushing the envelope on quality juvenile justice programming. His ultimate goal is to be a leader in the industry with a strong voice in providing guidance, mentoring and direction to younger people coming into the field, allowing it to thrive through the future.
