Mr. Summers acknowledges his mother's influence on his shift from a position as an adult probation officer to choosing health care as a professional path: Witnessing the life-saving treatment she received while recovering from a heart attack inspired him to gain the appropriate training that would enable him to provide the same level of care. To further advance his ability to advocate for patients, Mr. Summers also earned relevant industry certifications by completing both the Basic Life support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support training programs offered by the American Heart Association. Moreover, he is a Certified Critical Care Nurse, as designated by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation specialist, which enables Mr. Summers to offer blood oxygenation therapy to some of his more ill patients.
Numerous awards have marked Mr. Summers' success in the industry: He is a multi-time nominee for the DAISY Award and has won the recognition as well. Moreover, he was a nominee for the Nursing Shining Star Award at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Notably, he maintains membership in the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and Mr. Summers' ultimate professional goal is to return to school and train to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
