Wookie Style Tattoos has been extensively featured by local media outlets, most notably in the Ahwatukee Foothills News in 2022 and a documentary.
PHOENIX, AZ, March 13, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbi Blattenberger has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Hailing from an extensive background in corporate banking, Ms. Blattenberger has earned distinction as the co-owner and operations manager at Wookie Style Tattoos, a family-owned-and-operated tattoo shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Joining her husband, Terry "Wookie" Hoffman, a longtime pillar of the local tattoo industry, in 2018, the pair have gone on to build a laudable reputation for their talented artists, discounts for veterans and first responders, and commitment to ensuring the safety of their customers. In her capacity at the shop, Ms. Blattenberger is responsible for all administrative tasks at the small business, including handling payroll and taxes, procuring equipment and supplies, and orienting new artists.
Known for their contributions to the local community, Ms. Blattenberger and her husband have dedicated the month of September – Suicide Awareness Month – to mental health advocacy, offering free literature on mental health, signs of emotional suffering and ways to identify local resources for those in need. Likewise, on one Saturday of every September, Mr. Hoffman and his fellow artists offer free semicolon tattoos to customers, symbolizing the moments when one has made the choice to continue living. They also bring in licensed social workers to provide counsel, advice and support for anyone needing immediate assistance and erect a "Remembering Wall" where participants can share pictures of loved ones who were lost to suicide. Throughout the remainder of the month, pre-designed tattoos are offered to customers, whose proceeds go entirely toward Project Semicolon, the Crisis Response Network of Arizona, and the Military Veteran Project, Mission 22, a military veteran project that seeks to shine a light on the daily battles of veterans, who increasingly suffer from high rates of suicide and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Outside of their efforts during Suicide Awareness Month, Wookie Style Tattoos has dedicated permanent space on their website to their fundraising efforts for mental health advocacy, including videos, a trailer for their upcoming short film and helpful resources for those in crisis. Among other issues close to their hearts, Ms. Blattenberger and her husband have also dedicated special tattooing services to those who have grappled with self-harm, as well as victims of human trafficking.
Well-regarded for their achievements as a small business, Wookie Style Tattoos has been extensively featured by local media outlets, most notably in the Ahwatukee Foothills News in 2022 and a documentary, "Closed for COVID: Hope and Resiliency," by Amoroma Productions, in 2021. Moreover, the shop was named Ahwatukee Foothills Business of the Month in 2022.
Prior to her work in the tattoo industry, Ms. Blattenberger worked in the field of finance in roles of project management, having most recently served as a senior project manager at U.S. Bank. She previously contributed to various positions at TEKsystems, Wells Fargo, Capital One and Household International. Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Blattenberger studied business and technology information systems at the University of Phoenix, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in 2001.
In accounting for her contributions to the success of Wookie Style Tattoos, Ms. Blattenberger largely credits her sense of drive, integrity and a fierce determination to make the world a better place. Looking toward the future, she aspires to strike an effective balance between her personal and professional responsibilities and to set her family's business further along the path toward serving as a safe haven for the local community.
