WESTON, MA, March 14, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Monsignor William Patrick Fay, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Leveraging almost five decades of excellence as an ordained Catholic priest, Monsignor (Msgr.) Fay has served as a professor and formator of older men for the Roman Catholic Priesthood at the Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary. Since 2018, he has focused his studies and teaching on the intersection of philosophy and theology, as well as on Catholic Social Doctrine and Catholic Bioethics. He participates in Mass, in prayer exercises in the chapel while he provides class instructions, and conducts research. He also serves as a Consultor to and member of the Presbyteral Council for the Archbishop of Boston. He also serves as a weekend assistant for two parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston.
Prior to his current role, Msgr. Fay began his career as a parochial vicar and assistant pastor at St. Rita Parish in Haverill, MA in 1974. He was a professor and chief administrator at St. John's Seminary from 1981 until 1995. Following this time, he served as the associate general secretary for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops until becoming the general secretary in 2001. He then served as the pastor at St. Columbkille Parish in Brighton, MA from 2006 to 2013 and at St. Lucy and St. Monica Parishes in Methuen, MA from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, he was appointed the interim director for Diaconate Formation Office as well as the director of the Catholic Campus Ministry. A year later, he added the director for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith of Boston to his responsibilities.
Prior to embarking on his life as a priest, Msgr. Fay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from St. John's Seminary in 1970. He then was awarded a Bachelor of Sacred Theology in 1973 and a Master of Arts in Theology in 1974, from Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. He subsequently was awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy from The Catholic University of America, School of Philosophy in 1987, having completed a Licentiate in Philosophy there in 1979. Additionally, he is a valued member of the Association of Catholic Scholars, the American Catholic Philosophical Association, the Archdiocese of Boston Presbyteral Council, and the Archdiocesan of Boston College of Consultors.
In the coming years, Msgr. Fay would like to write and publish books on his teaching experience, his primary interests in Catholic bioethics and how Catholic thinking intersects with science in the area of medicine. He also aims to serve as a positive example to other men, younger or older, who are interested in serving the Catholic Church as well.
