After more than four decades of expertise in her industry, Ms. Perez retired in 2016. Having joined The Boeing Company in 1979, shortly after graduating from high school, she continually progressed, beginning as a graphic designer and assembler for the multinational organization. She subsequently rose to serve as the manager of spacecraft integrity and testing of GSE and riggers. Additionally, Ms. Perez had the opportunity to serve as a project manager with Boeing Intelligence and Analytics. Before retiring, she was promoted to functional manager of Boeing Satellites, responsible for the oversight of building satellites and the transportation to the launch site. Ms. Perez was notably the only female functional manager to work on satellites for the organization during that time.
Founded in 1916, The Boeing Company is a publicly traded aerospace defense company that designs, manufactures, and sells airplanes, rotorcraft, rockets, satellites, telecommunications equipment, and missiles worldwide. Boeing also provides leasing and product support services to its clients.
Throughout her distinguished tenure at Boeing, Ms. Perez was lauded for her expertise in project and program management and project planning. She notably managed approximately 50 union technicians during her career and was responsible for coordinating with spacecraft managers and engineers daily. Ms. Perez also served as a team lead for BSS composite production and became fluent in battery production, microwave tubes, spot welding, and cryogenics.
Among her most memorable accomplishments, Ms. Perez garnered recognition for her contributions to the launch preparation of the C-17 airplane. She also collaborated with a team at Seal Beach on an unmanned aircraft flown by engineers on the ground.
Before joining The Boeing Company, Ms. Perez briefly worked at Hughes Aircraft in 1979. Highly influenced by her father, who also worked in the aerospace industry for Raytheon, The Boeing Company, and Hughes Aircraft, he played an instrumental role in her success.
In light of her accomplishments, Ms. Perez was recognized by the National Association of Professional Women for outstanding and excellent dedication to her profession as a female in 2013 and 2014.
