Since 2021, she has worked closely with one of Amazon's human resources vice presidents, overseeing business organizations in 33 countries, focusing on communications, engagement and DEI programing across the organization. She and her team apply everyday holistic approaches to building community, content, training and action within communications engagement and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for the organization.
Prior to her current role, Mrs. Miranda-Steele began her career as an intern with the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office in 2000 and was a shift supervisor and mental health worker with Deveraux Cleo Wallace in 2001. Following this time, she was a graduate assistant with the National Juvenile Detention Association from 2001 until 2003 and was a youth care worker for St. Vincent Home for Children in 2002. She subsequently was a multiple store executive team leader of assets protection for Mervyn's in 2003 and became an executive team leader for Target in 2004. Leaving Target in 2010, Mrs. Miranda-Steele joined the Peace Corps for the next two-and-a-half years in Mbeya, Tanzania.
Mrs. Miranda-Steele continued her career as a program manager for TechnoServe in Tanzania in 2013, helping at least 10,000 smallholder farmers increase their coffee quality production by providing them with acumen in agronomy farming techniques. She joined Amazon in 2015 as an area manager, and progressed through a number of roles over the next seven years, including operations manager and senior regional manager. Through these roles, she had the opportunity to advance her business skills and abilities, growing her own position with the company in the process. She was promoted to senior regional manager in workforce staffing before moving to senior manager in global learning, talent development, onboarding and diversity, equity and inclusion in 2021, which led to her current role as senior manager of communications, engagement and DEI.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Mrs. Miranda-Steele earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology from Adams State University in 2001. She then attained a Master of Science in criminal justice with an emphasis in security management from Michigan State University in 2003. Well-qualified in her field, she completed a diversity and inclusion certificate program at Cornell University in 2022.
Within the coming years, Mrs. Miranda-Steele intends to continue building sustainable programs while increasing the scope and complexity that will drive change at greater levels, ensuring the organization she has built is sustainable. On a personal level, she hopes to build skills that will allow her to lead teams of professionals who will be able to affect their businesses in positive ways. In other words, she hopes to serve as a "force multiplier," empowering others to create bold and innovative solutions to business problems.
