Since 2020, he has focused his efforts on interviewing subject matter experts for a program that had to be turned into a controller, collaborating with colleagues and packaging the information to deliver to the controller.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Burns began his career as a technical writer and business analyst for Bear Stearns in 1996 and was a manager for Accenture in 1998. He then was a project manager and senior business analyst for NASDAQ OMX in 2000 and took a similar role with CyberShift, Inc. in 2004. He continued his career as a technical writer and senior business analyst with Credit Suisse in 2006 and then with XL Capital in 2007, becoming a technical writer, project manager and business analyst for AllianceBernstein later that year. In 2008, he served as the president of the BSOD Global Consulting Group until joining Forsythe Technology as a technical writer and business analyst in 2012. The following year, he worked with OppenheimerFunds, the Promontory Financial Group, LLC and Weill Cornell Medicine and joined NYU Langone Medical Center in 2016.
Following this time, Mr. Burns served as a senior technical wirter and business analyst with the NYC Department of Buildings and then took a role with the Nature's Bounty Company in 2017. At the same time, he worked with the Promontory Financial Group, an IBM Company, for a year. He was a senior technical writer for Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. in 2018 and also was a technical writer for Honeywell until 2020. Additionally, he lends his expertise to the New York City chapter of the Project Management Institute.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Burns earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lafayette College in 1977 and a Master of Business Administration in finance and accounting from Washington University in St. Louis in 1980. He then attained a graduate certificate in systems analysis from Columbia University in2003 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in elementary education from Queens College in 2010. Well-qualified in his field, he holds numerous professional certifications from LinkedIn, including in sustainability strategies, project management and construction management.
Within the coming years, Mr. Burns intends to gain his certification as a financial planner. A persistent person by nature, he is constantly working to learn new things rather than settling on remaining comfortable. He also plans to focus more of his efforts on volunteer work, including teaching literacy.
