Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in civil engineering and project management for residential and commercial land development, Mr. Hanz has earned distinction as the principal and Chief Operating Officer of HMT Engineering and Surveying. Since 2011, he has focused his efforts on overseeing operations and procedures for six engineering and surveying teams, engaging in marketing, sales and quality oversight. He has been a key part of several stellar projects, including the design and development of Schlitterbahn Water Park in South Padre Island, Texas, and developing the Crush 'n' Gusher attraction at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in Orlando, Florida. He has also been part of developments for international park rides in China, Dubai and Europe, among many others. Additionally, he is a valued member of the City of New Braunfels, and has played a major role with the growth and development of the community.
Likewise dedicated to civil advocate, Mr. Hanz lends his expertise as a member of the boards of directors for the Sophienburg Museum & Archives, Wurstfest and the Brauntex Theatre. He also formerly served as a chairman for the New Braunfels Watershed Advisory Committee and the New Braunfels Bond Advisory Committee. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud to have received a Chair of the Board Award for Tourism from the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, Inc. He was also honored as an Unsung Hero by the local newspaper, the Herald-Zeitung, in recognition of his service to the community.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Hanz began his career as a project engineer for RMT/Jones and Neuse, Inc. in 1992 and was the director of engineering for the product development and engineering of NBGS International, Inc. in 1996. Following this time, he served as a program manager and senior project manager for River City Engineering in 2005.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Hanz earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in 1992. He then attained a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2007. Well-qualified in his field, he is a certified professional engineer and a 1999 graduate of the New Braunfels Leadership Class from the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
Within the coming years, Mr. Hanz intends to continue building his company and taking an active mentoring role to promote future leadership development among rising professionals, along with continued community involvement.
