CLEVELAND, OH,March 22, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Conor J. Hawkins has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on more than a decade of experience in research and development, Mr. Hawkins is recognized for his expertise as vice president of Waterlox Coating Corporation, a company established by his great-grandfather, a chemical engineer, in 1910. He first joined the company in 2014 as a technical product manager, and when his father retired in 2017, was promoted to his current position to oversee research and development, technical support, production, purchasing and information technology. Mr. Hawkins is the fourth generation of the Hawkins family to continue the family-owned company. Although entering the coating world was not a part of his original career plan, he has enjoyed continuing his family's legacy in chemistry and in the business.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Hawkins earned a bachelor's degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Ohio State University in 2009. After graduating, he worked at PPG Industries in Cleveland, climbing the ranks there from development chemist to software development team lead to global process engineer. A leader in his field, he has been featured in Crain's Cleveland Business and is active with several professional associations, including Manufacturing Works, the National Wood Floors Association and Cleveland Coatings Society.
Among his career achievements, Mr. Hawkins is especially proud of the success he has helped bring to the family business over the past few years; under his direction, the firm successfully launched a new water-based product that had been under development for decades, ushering in a new era at the business. In addition, he is proud to have been part of a team that developed a globally used color measurement data and reporting software for PPG Industries. He credits his success to his inquisitive nature; by asking questions and exploring the details of chemical engineering processes, he developed a solid understanding that enabled him to implement changes to improve efficiency.
Outside of work, Mr. Hawkins enjoys spending time with his spouse and three children, who range in age from 4 years to 6 months, and he likes skiing and sailing. Looking toward the future, he sees himself continuing to grow and modernize the company, eventually taking over his older sister's position as company president.
