Mr. Fisher is an established mathematician and faculty member at Austin Community College on the Northridge Campus in Austin, Texas. Hired in 2007, he teaches mathematics courses within the department to students of all skill levels. Known for setting high standards for his students, he is always available to meet their needs if and when they need assistance. In addition to lecturing, Mr. Fisher helped create and establish the campus math contract role as a liaison between the advisors and the mathematics department.
Throughout his professional teaching career, Mr. Fisher has garnered experience and awards educating both high school and college-level students. Prior to joining Austin Community College, he taught Calculus AB and Calculus BC at Taylor High School in the Taylor Independent School District from 2006 to 2007. He also taught courses at Northern Arizona University between 2003 and 2006. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Fisher taught online developmental mathematics using PHIM and a new developmental mathematical course at California State University at Stanislaus from 2001 to 2003.
In 2008, Mr. Fisher notably authored an article in the Journal of Theoretical Computer Science about polyomino set weak (1, 2) achievement games. Looking toward the future, he aims to transition into a more digital or technical field to reach a broader audience.
Mr. Fisher has been active in a volunteer capacity with Otherworld, a nonprofit organization in the northeast that offers mindful retreats for becoming a more heroic version of one's self.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Fisher received an undergraduate degree at California State University in 2002 and a Master of Science in Mathematics at Northern Arizona University in 2005. He also received certification in Google Project Management in 2022.
