SYLACAUGA, AL, March 28, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jerri Michele Eller, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in teaching and education leadership, Dr. Eller has earned distinction as the superintendent for Sylacauga City Schools. Since 2021, she has focused her efforts on overseeing the entire management and operations of the school system, including improving the schools by increasing student achievement and increasing student and staff support. Among her professional accomplishments, she is proud to have a woodworking classroom named after her in Balfate, Honduras which was a project she led as the director of teaching and learning with Eufaula City Schools. She has been a presenter for educational leadership and educational best practices at both state and national conferences, including but not limited to, the Southern Regional Education Board, the Association of Career Technical Education, and the National Superintendents Forum.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Eller began her career as an English teacher with Edgewood Academy in 1999, with Baldwin Magnet School in 2002, and with Elmore County High School in 2003. She remained a teacher with Elmore County High School until becoming a secondary instructional coach with the district in 2013. Following this time, she was named administrative assistant with Wetumpka High School in 2015. She continued her administrative career and became the director of teaching and learning in 2015 with Eufaula City Schools. In 2019, she took a role as the assistant superintendent for Chickasaw City Schools.
Likewise dedicated to civil advocacy, Dr. Eller serves on the board for the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement and is a technical advisory committee member of the Office of the Governor for the State of Alabama. She is a valued board member of the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she lends her expertise to the advisory board of the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Education, the Auburn University School of Education, the Alabama Career Technical Association Board, and the Alabama Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. Owing to her stellar leadership skills, she currently serves as a leadership mentor for the University of Alabama School of Education.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Eller earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and middle school language arts from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1998. She then attained a Master of Science in reading education in 2006 and a Master of Science in educational leadership and administration in 2014, both also from Auburn University at Montgomery. Following these accomplishments, she gained a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership and administration from Auburn University in 2020.
Well-qualified in her field, Dr. Eller is a Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools instructional leader and holds certification as a professional educator in secondary English, reading, elementary education, as an instructional leader and as an education specialist from the Alabama State Department of Education. Within the coming years, Dr. Eller intends to continue her work in educational administration and leadership, driven to leave every situation better than when she arrived while gaining more knowledge to further her goals.
