During his career, Dr. Morrison gained valuable expertise in delineating efficiencies to effect patient outcomes, as vice president of operations research and program effectiveness for Continental Medical Systems, Inc. During his career, he has lent his expertise to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs as a member of a national commission that examined rehabilitation operations and made recommendations for improving the department's rehabilitation programs. He also worked on two different projects conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: one for mental health improvement and innovation in the United States, and another that increased the effectiveness of independent living organizations. Outside of his work, Dr. Morrison further contributed to his community as a volunteer with Volunteers of America.
An expert in his field, Dr. Morrison holds a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and a Master's degree in sociology from Boston University. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning a master's degree in public administration with a specialization in the field of aging at the University of Michigan and then a PhD in social welfare economics from Brandeis University's Florence Heller Graduate School. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, he has contributed to several books, including "National Studies on Age Discrimination and Employment" at the Department of Labor and "Economics of Aging: The Future of Retirement," which he edited.
In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Morrison twice received recognition as a Switzer Fellow of the U.S. Department of Education and the National Rehabilitation Association. He was also an Intergovernmental Personnel Act Fellow at the Wharton School and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes particular pride in working for the federal government for 28 years and serving as the director of national disability research studies and director of national disability demonstration projects for the U.S. Social Security Administration.
