After decades in the engineering industry, Dr. Fragomeni became a technical consultant and owner of Metallurgy and Science Consulting Service. Serving an instrumental role in the industry by providing his decades of expertise, he has also found success as an adviser on behalf of Guidepoint Global LLC since 2008.
Dr. Fragomeni led a distinguished career teaching mechanical engineering, material science, and metallurgy courses at several institutions, including the University of Detroit at Mercy, Ohio University, the University of Alabama, and Lawrence Technological University. As a leader in the field, he was an assistant researcher for the Department of Defense Analysis Center at his alma mater, the University of Purdue, in West Lafayette, Indiana, and was a management associate engineer at U.S. Steel Corporation in Gary, Indiana. Among other roles, Dr. Fragomeni served as a mechanical engineering consultant at Engineering and Science Consultant Service in Royal Oak, Michigan, and as a metallurgical engineering consultant at Westmoreland Mechanical Testing and Research Inc.
Throughout his years of research, Dr. Fragomeni has focused on developing high-strength aluminum and aluminum-lithium alloys for aerospace applications, welding of metals alloys in space welding environment, titanium alloys research for biomedical applications, and microstructure and materials properties modeling for alloys. Disseminating his research, he has contributed numerous articles to peer-reviewed science and engineering journals and scientific papers at conferences. Additionally, Dr. Fragomeni has been active as a reviewer for the Engineering Transactions Journal since 2015 and the American Association of Science and Technology's Journal of Materials since 2018 and has also served as an editorial board member for the SCIREA's Journal of Metallurgical Engineering since 2018.
As a part of his established commitments to his community, Dr. Fragomeni has given back by volunteering with such organizations as Habitat for Humanity and Knights of Columbus.
To prepare for his career in the industry, Dr. Fragomeni earned a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in 1985. He also achieved a Master of Science in Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy at Purdue University in 1988 and 1994, respectively. Furthermore, Dr. Fragomeni received certification as a quality technician through ASQ in 2005 and construction quality management through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2009.
Dr. Fragomeni has remained aware of developments in his field through membership with the Engineering Society of Detroit, the Michigan Education Association, and the International Directory of Experts and Expertise. He has also been active as a corresponding member and titanium committee member of the Materials Society and as a member and former associate faculty advisor of the student chapter of the Society of Advancement Materials and Process Engineering at Ohio University. Among other organizations, Dr. Fragomeni is an elected fellow, life member, and ambassador of the grand eminence of the American Biographical Institute and a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Eta Sigma.
Highlighting his achievements, Dr. Fragomeni has been recognized in several leading professional publications, including the International Biographical Centre with a Pinnacle of Achievement for Education Award. He was also named a merit scholar by the University of Pittsburgh and a scholar by the Carpenter Technical Corporation.
