Having initially opened its doors one year prior to the COVID-19 pandemic with little in the way of equipment, JukeBox – then known as Rise – nonetheless enjoyed the patronage of more than 100 members on its first day of operation. Despite the widespread shutdowns that followed, the aforementioned gym continued to thrive through remote lessons and outdoor classes, and was voted as the Best Boxing Club in Brooklyn by the Dime Community Bank in 2021 & Best Boxing Instruction in 2022 by Distinguished Teaching.
Prior to her efforts in personal fitness, Ms. Schechter made waves throughout a prosperous career as a photographer, through which she worked on an independent basis with such prominent media outlets as HarperCollins, Alternative Press, Sony Records, Olympus, Billboard Magazine, Columbia Records, Universal Motown Records and Little, Brown and Company, among many others. Highly sought after for the vivid style and intensity of her work, she has been presented with a number of international awards and been featured in exhibitions throughout the world, including in Russia, Italy, France, England and China, to name only a few.
Having committed herself to athleticism throughout much of her life, beginning with kickboxing and Muay Thai before transitioning to boxing, Ms. Schechter seized the opportunity to serve as a coach and delighted in watching the transformation that came over her clients. After witnessing firsthand the strength that resides in all people, she committed herself to unlocking that potential on a full-time basis. Ms. Schechter largely credits her success to the hurdles she faced while coming of age, her commitment to perseverance in the face of adversity, and her resolve in helping others overcome their own personal challenges.
Adjacent to her work at JukeBox, Ms. Schechter is active as the creator at UnderWraps NYC LLC, a virtual boxing club where she doubles her clients performance both inside & outside the ring. Established in 2022, the online training service offers an intense "muscle and mindset" regimen that strives to help clients reach their personalized fitness goals and help them attain the confidence they need to face life's obstacles with renewed strength.
