Since 1999, Dr. Stone has been an adjunct professor at both Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University, where he has taught a myriad of courses, including history, international relations, literature, biography, and his most popular, cinema.
Having begun his career as a rabbi at the Temple Beth Torah in Tamarac, Florida, in 1983, Dr. Stone subsequently established the Congregation Beth Chaverim in Coral Springs, Florida, in 1990. From 1995 to 2003, he was active on the Institutional Review Board at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida. Since 2013, Dr. Stone has spent the lion's share of his work days working for the Advarra Institutional Review Board (formerly Schulman Associates IRB), reviewing, vetting and editing literally thousands of clinical research proposals, including the "Cancer Moon Shot Project." Among other professional accomplishments, Dr. Stone long ago found success as a political writer, ethicist, strategist and campaign surrogate for the presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and as the author and star of the one-man show "An Evening with Sholem Aleichen," Which he has been performing for nearly 50 years. He has also been an active blogger. He has posted nearly 1,000 essays on his two blogs, "The K.F. Stone Weekly: Politics and a Whole Lot More," and "Tales From Hollywood and Vine."
Dr. Stone is highly educated. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history, politics, and philosophy from the University of California in Santa Cruz in 1971. He was also an Eagleton at Rutgers University's prestigious Eagleton Institute of Politics (1972 to 1973). Dr. Stone later spent 5 years as a student at the Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem, Los Angeles and Cincinnati, receiving a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters in Rabbinics in 1979, rabbinic ordination in 1980, and a Doctor of Divinity in 2005.
Honoring his work ethic, Dr. Stone received an Excellence in Teaching Award from Florida Atlantic University in 2004. He previously received a Lion of Judah Award from B'nai B'rith in 1986.
