Drawing on over 17 years of diverse expertise, Ms. Rene specializes in sales, hospitality, events planning and Haitian culinary. Since 2022, she has found much success as the founder and chief executive officer of the Joanne Xperience, a pop-up event venture that promotes Black influences on food, culture and arts, with an emphasis on Haitian culinary, culture and arts.
Ms. Rene initially began her career working as a manager trainee at the Four Seasons Hotels Limited from 2006 until 2008. Following this post, she was active as a sales coordinator at the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau from 2008 to 2011. Between 2011 and 2013, she also garnered expertise as the head of events at the Massachusetts State House for the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick. Subsequently, Ms. Rene excelled in convention sales and as a member of the New York City's sales team at NYC and Company.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Rene pursued an education at the University of New Hampshire, where she obtained an associate's degree in business administration and management and earned a Bachelor of Science in tourism planning and development, with a minor in community planning. As a commitment to her field, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Pampered Chef, (NCBMP) The National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals, PCMA (Professional Convention Management Association) and ASAE (American Society of Association Executives). Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Rene has volunteered at the Coney Island Hospital of NYC Health and Hospitals in Brooklyn, New York, and Girl Scouts of the United States of America.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Rene is most proud of all the expertise that she has garnered working with various elected officials at the National League of Cities (NLC) from 2017 to 2021. During her time at NLC, Ms. Rene contributed and oversaw the planning and execution of over 45 meetings, conferences, and events annually, bringing together local and national stakeholders across the US. High profile figures such as Elon Musk, Magic Johnson, Artist Common (Lonnie R. Lynn), and Kamala Harris were keynote speakers at some of these events.
Reflecting on her achievements, she attributes much of her success to her mentors, who guided her along the way, and to her parents and sibling who motivated her and reminded her of her resilient Haitian background.
