Outside of her primary career efforts in education, Dr. Griffin was a leader for international mission teams with her local Presbyterian church for 10 years. As part of her dedication to academia, she previously secured a $10 million budget from the United States Congress to utilize in the organization and creation of a residential public charter school for children with severe emotional disorders in her community. Additionally, she worked alongside the School-Home Partnership Division of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) to develop a new mentoring and extended learning program, which later received a million dollars to ensure its implementation on an international scale.
