PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 04, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Katie Samson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Backed by years of professional experience, Ms. Samson presently excels as the director of education for Art-Reach, where she provides training on creating and advocating for accessibility through professional development workshops. Similarly, she holds a digital conference annually called the Cultural Accessibility Conference and strives to build awareness and education regarding how the arts and cultural spaces can be accessible to all. Prior to obtaining her current role, she worked for the non-profit organization as the director of programs. Over the years, Ms. Samson has also served as the assistant director of museum education and an art educator for the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Samson gained valuable expertise in the field as a disability studies faculty member at West Chester University, a project coordinator for Rosenbach Museum & Library, and as the manager of youth and family programs for the Tucson Museum of Art. In conjunction with her work, she has contributed to her community through Team Sunshine Performance, the Radnor Township School District, the Pennsylvania Center for Adapted Sports, and World Café Life. In 2001, Ms. Samson and her family and friends founded the Katie Samson Foundation in order to provide funding for quality-of-life programs for people with disabilities and research funds for understanding paralysis. Previously, she also dedicated herself to Magee Rehabilitation, Jefferson Health Occupational Therapy, The Impact Center, and the Legal Clinic for the Disabled.
An expert in her field, Ms. Samson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Art History from Middlebury College and a graduate diploma in art history with a certificate in museum studies from the University of Arizona. Subsequently, she became a certified aging-in-place specialist through the National Association of Home Builders. Due to her considerable knowledge, she has contributed to such publications as "Witnessing the Impact: What will post-pandemic- life be like for disabled people?"
In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Samson was inducted into the Radnor High School Hall of Fame in 2018, and, along with her colleagues received the Stand for the Arts Award from Ovation and Comcast, and the Community Asset Award from the Kennedy Center in 2019. More recently, she won the Special Recognition Award for Service from Radnor Township. While her career has been filled with standout moments, she takes the most pride in providing more than $2 million in gifts to quality-of-life programs for people with disabilities through The Katie Samson Foundation. Looking toward the future, Ms. Samson intends to write and publish a book, return to telling stories in front of a live audience, and continue to raise awareness about disability policies.
