As the executive director and lead mentor of Destined for Greatness Mentoring and Outreach Program, Ms. Singleton harnesses her passion for serving others and stimulating positive change. Since accepting the position in 2008, she has remained intently focused on supporting area youth and families through cooperative partnerships and interacting with a capable team of associates to generate local and regional connections. Ms. Singleton also expertly administers needs assessment analyses and crafts letters of engagement to forge viable long-term relationships with affiliate organizations across the greater Baltimore metropolitan area.
Destined for Greatness Mentoring and Outreach Program (DFG) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to fulfill a gap in supportive programs for Baltimore youth aged 3 to 18. Under Ms. Singleton's outstanding guidance, the organization hosts monthly events and age-appropriate breakout sessions designed to promote awareness and elevate self-esteem. Ms. Singleton also thoughtfully pairs children with adult volunteers whose backgrounds and perspectives align to initiate productive mentorships.
A meticulous succession strategy is in place at DFG as well: Once attendees age out of the program at 18, they are appointed as youth ambassadors, which encourages a system of reciprocity as they assume a newly designated role in support of younger mentees. To offer extended assistance to the ambassador class, Ms. Singleton has formed cooperative relationships with local and regional trades experts to secure apprenticeship opportunities; ultimately, DFG helps young adults to gain unparalleled experience and training, as well as licensure in an occupation.
Ms. Singleton brings diverse expertise and ample managerial training to her leadership appointment at DFG. For example, in 2007, she was a tester and counselor for the Baltimore City Health Start LLC, and between 2013 and 2015 she excelled as a mail handler for the United States Postal Service. Since 2018, she has also held a concurrent position as a classroom teaching assistant with Catholic Charities, and Ms. Singleton has been a front office specialist and guest experience champion with IHG Hotels and Resorts since 2021. Ms. Singleton remains especially proud of achieving her higher education aspirations, earning an associate degree in hospitality administration and management from Baltimore International College in 2006 and completing the life coach certification program at the Life Coach School of Arkansas in 2021.
Ms. Singleton is gratified to play a distinct role in elevating awareness about resources and support programs available in the community, and she is proud of how DFG capably connects people to services that can promote stability and prosperity. She attributes her success thus far to her deep faith and to family support, as well as her persistent drive to help others. Looking toward the future, Ms. Singleton is eager to launch Women of Integrity, a networking organization for women, and to extend the reach of DFG by introducing a youth resource center in a space that can remain open 24 hours a day.
